Each guess at the mystery word returns a single number: the edit distance, counting the steps needed to turn the guess into the answer, where a step inserts, deletes or substitutes a letter. Lower numbers mean closer guesses, and the challenge is to home in on the word with as few attempts as possible. No account is needed.
